A 2019 Manufacturing Outlook

If you have turned on the news in the last few days, you may have heard two things which give you concern about the job market and business market. The first is that a recession is coming, no matter what news outlet you turn too, chances are you have heard these words and secondly you may be a bit concerned about the market as we continue to face the longest Government shutdown of our times. Despite these two alarms though, we promise you that everything is in fact actually A-okay in the manufacturing realm. We promise.

Now thoughts of a coming recession and thoughts of a government shutdown can be scary and are definitely not something that can easily be shrugged off, but there is no reason to be concerned in 2019 and here is why.

-> Slowdown will happen, but it won’t happen right away. Manufacturing slowdown will happen and it will happen in 2019, as it will continue to be hard to outpace the growth that we experienced in 2018 but it will not be until the second half of the year that we begin to fell it's ramifications. Many manufacturers are working hard to still trying to meet the 2018 goals that feeling the affects of a slowdown will not come until later in the year.

-> Many Manufacturers are still working on employee hiring from 2018. The record growth in 2018 was great, however the one thing that many manufacturers experienced was the lack of employees that they needed. With many manufacturing plants and locations not fully staffed, layoffs will not need to happen.

-> Tax Laws and Regulatory Reform. Many tax laws and trade embargoes that were fought over in 2018, are now going to take place in 2019 which will in fact have positive reinforcement on many companies. In particular new trade rules that were fought over with countries such as China will start to see their fruition come to life in the second part of 2019.

We understand that the current climate of the world can be scary but we promise you 2019 will be much easier than place that it looks like.
