Receiving Clerk

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Position Type: Full Time - Direct Hire

Job Purpose:

The Receiving Clerk verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments. Overall responsibility of timely and accurate receiving records.

Duties:

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, orders, packing lists or other records.
  • Enters receipt data into computer.
  • Assist with other inventory duties as needed, such as cycle counting, stocking C.O.P. pulls and physical inventory.
  • Unloads trucks and maintains shipments, dock and ramps and receiving area in an orderly fashion.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with Purchasing to rectify damages and shortages according to procedures.
  • Routes items to appropriate departments or areas.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Fulfills production material at work cells as needed
  • Maintains Stockroom and Warehouse per 5S Standards
  • Cross trains in COP Pick List Command Center, machine and parcel packing
  • Retrieves, fills, relocates, and returns bins of material throughout the plant
  • Prints and ensures that bin labels are correct and legible
  • Assist production with the material condition in their work cells and informs them of problems
  • Drive company vehicles to move or pick up material
  • Participate in yearly physical inventory counting and daily cycle counting
  • Participate in cross training to fill in for others within the department as needed
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to others needing material related help
  • Maintain storage media, tools and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Maintain Stockroom area according to 5S standards
  • Utilizes ERP system to accurately maintain inventory
  • Issues requisitioned products, ensuring proper authorization and maintaining appropriate needs
  • Assists in receiving, checking, documenting, and storing incoming products.
  • Sort code and print pick lists on schedule as determined
  • Review the pick lists for accuracy and corrected before the parts are pulled
  • Responsible for customer order picking and delivery to shipping in a timely fashion
  • Inform production of subassemblies needed to be built for shipments
  • Be the primary contact for COP parts issues.
  • Coordinate parts and backorders and move material to the “staged” location as required
  • Inform Customer Service when “next day “ requirements cannot be shipped
  • Assist in receiving as necessary
  • Assists in issuing and relocating material at the counter
  • Fill in for others in the department as needed
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to others needing material related help
  • Maintain storage media, tools and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous receiving clerk experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong mathematics background.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
